You can run UniFi on pretty much anything, macOS, Debian, Raspberry Pi and others. If you want to host the UniFi Controller and not benefit from the simple setup HostiFi offers - you can run UniFi on a dedicated server that runs Windows.
First, visit the Ubiquiti downloads page and look for UniFi Network Server (Windows).
Then click Download and it'll start downloading a file ending in UniFi-installer.exe
Next, open up the UniFi-installer.exe file. Click yes if asked by Windows if you want to proceed with the changes.
At the end of the installation process, it'll ask where you want the directory to be installed, either in its default location or custom.
On Windows, UniFi requires Java to be installed. If you don't have it already on the Windows machine, go to the Java website to download and install. Once done, come back to this point.
Next, click Install to start the installation process, then Finish once done. Once it has finished, the UniFi Controller application should launch automatically. If this doesn't happen, search for UniFi in the Windows search and click to launch.
Once the UniFi Controller is running, open your web browser and go to:
https://<your-raspberry-pi-IP>:8443
That's it! You should now have the UniFi Controller installed and running on your Windows Server/Machine
HostiFi provides hosting for both Ubiquiti and TP-Link software-defined-networking (SDN) applications, with servers for UniFi, UISP and Omada. We also offer network consulting, with HostiFi Pro.
