Ubiquiti launches three new Enterprise WiFi 7 APs

Ubiquiti has today revealed the E7, E7 Campus and E7 Audience

Today, Ubiquiti has launched three brand new WiFi 7 access points for UniFi, all under the umbrella of Enterprise. These are the first UniFi APs to be classed as such and they all have some impressive specifications.

This announcement was part of a new YouTube video that Ubiquiti released, detailing all the new features.

E7

First up is the E7. This device was briefly teased during another YouTube video a little while ago, but this is the first time we have seen it. This new AP is square, not for the first time but definitely the first time for a while. The last time we saw a square UniFi AP was in 2013, with the original UniFi AC AP. The E7 has two ethernet uplink ports, for high availability with the main port being 10GbE and the backup port at standard 1GbE, both are capable of powering the AP in case of any cable faults.

The E7 supports 2.4GHz, 5GHz and 6GHz with a max data rate of 11.5Gbps, when using a 320MHz channel width on 6GHz. MIMO is 2x2 for 2.4GHz, and 4x4 for both 5GHz and 6GHz. The E7 also has a staggering 10 spatial streams, really leaning into the dense environment use cases. To that end, Ubiquti says that the E7 can handle up to 1,000 connected wireless devices at once.

The E7 also has a new dedicated spectral analyser radio, meaning automatic channel selection should be better. Curiously, it also has AFC support for long range 6GHz, but little information is supplied by Ubiquiti regarding this.

The E7 costs $499 in the US and is available now. In the UK, it is £456 and is coming soon, in Europe it is €559.65 and is available now and finally, in Canada it is $680 and is coming soon.

E7 Campus

The E7 Campus introduces a new form factor for UniFi APs, as this one comes with a pole/wall mount which can be used for precise aiming. Like the E7, this one is also square and has a lot of the same specs. This includes support for 1,000 devices, WiFi 7 with the dedicated spectral radio and more.

However, the E7 Campus seems more of a device to aim at things, rather than be on a ceiling. The E7 Campus is fully IPX6 and IP67 waterproof, in fact during the video Ubiquiti dunked the AP into a tank of water to show off its waterproofness. The included articulating mount also further adds to this, as does the improved gain on the antennas.

On 2.4GHz we have 9dBi and then on 5GHz and 6GHz, we have 12dBi. Compare that to the E7, which is 5dBi and 6dBi respectively.

Also, the E7 Campus adds something from the UISP side of Ubiquiti, the PRISM RF filtering chip. The PRISM chips have been used in the Rocket 5AC PRISM and Rocket 2AC PRISM since 2016, so it is interesting to see the technology make the move to UniFi. During the video, Ubiquiti said the following:

"PRISM technology downconverts the incoming wifi signal to an intermediary frequency, before upconverting it back to the WiFi receiver."

Most of what Ubiquiti said is marketing, so it'll be interesting to see how this performs in the real world.

The E7 Campus costs $799 in the US and will be available in January 2025 and isn't yet listed on the store for any other markets.

E7 Audience

Lastly, the E7 Audience which won't be available until March 2025. This has the same design as the UWB-XG, which was launched many years ago. Much like that access point, this does away with 2.4GHz and instead focuses on 5GHz and 6GHz for really dense deployments.

This AP can handle 1,500 connected devices, has 12 spatial streams, PRISM filtering and a beamforming antenna to customise the cell sizes.

E7 Audience

Much like the other APs, this also has two Ethernet ports, one 10GbE and one 1GbE for failover, should it be required. Like the UWB-XG, it is also powered by PoE++.

The E7-Audience will cost $1,999 in the US when it goes on sale next year and isn't yet listed on the store for any other markets.

HostiFi

HostiFi provides hosting for both Ubiquiti and TP-Link software-defined-networking (SDN) applications, with servers for UniFi, UISP and Omada. We also offer network consulting, with HostiFi.
